Ephesians 5:18-21- And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

Something I want you to note is that; it is one thing to have received the Holy Ghost after you became born again at some point in your Christian life but it is another thing entirely to be filled with Holy Ghost. Receiving the Holy Ghost is great but you will not begin to see the full manifestations of its mighty power until you are continually filled with Him. How? In our theme text, you can see Apostle Paul writing to the Ephesians Church, talking about the need to be filled with the Holy Ghost. One question comes to mind here, how can you be filled with something you don’t even have? This must mean that the Ephesians Church already received the Holy Ghost and the great Apostle was telling them it is not enough. Therefore if it was not enough for the Ephesians church, it certainly isn’t enough for us today, just to receive Holy Ghost. How do I know that they had received the Holy Ghost before now? Ephesians 1:13 told me, ‘In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise’. Now you see that they have already received the Holy Ghost but that was not enough, they needed to be filled with it to do exploit. Therefore, there is a need for us Christians to continually get filled with the Holy Ghost. This is the reason why you see a lot of Christians living a mediocrity life and you sometimes wonder if this word of God is really true or that God might be partial. The answer is that some know how to get filled to do exploit, other can’t be bother. How do you get filled? One, speak to yourself the word of God, say to yourself those things God has said about you in the bible, turn it into a song, a poem, etc., and sing it in tongues. Two, make music but this time in your heart especially when you can’t voice it out depending on where you are. You see there no excuse not to be filled; you can be at work and still get filled by making music in your heart but the melody should be of thanks not asking for or praying for any needs. Three, do it in humility, meaning do it to get filled with the intention to use the power to God’s glory in serving (1 Peter 4:10-As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
