As Christians We Must Pray For Others

 I Timothy 2:1- I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

It is vital to note that as Christians part of our responsibility on this earth is to pray and then also to pray for others and not just ourselves or our immediate families. This means we MUST intercede on behalf of others against the forces of darkness.

Why? This is because some amongst us may still be weak, ignorant and unable to stand for themselves or even pray for themselves.  This is not necessarily because they are too young but sometimes because they don’t have enough revelation of who they are in Christ Jesus.  No wonder Hosea 4:6 says that God’s people are sometimes destroyed because they lack knowledge of who they are in Christ Jesus. They are destroyed by lack and wants, sickness and diseases and afflicted by all sorts and all kinds which make others wonder what the point of being a Christian is. Hence, there is need to intercede on their behalf, that they will come to the knowledge of who they are in Christ Jesus.

It is also our responsibility to pray for the unsaved that they will come to salvation in the name of Jesus and come against every forces of darkness that has blinded their eyes against the glorious light of the gospel of Jesus because it is the will of God that all men should be save and come to the knowledge of the truth (I Timothy 2:4).

In Luke 22:31-32 Jesus showed us an example when he told Peter that he had prayed for him “ And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren”

You see there is a need to pray for others like Jesus did because the Satan is always after people to suck life out of them but Christ has given us this life to enjoy (John 10:10 [amplified version]). Therefore it becomes our responsibility as a Christian to pray for others especially those that God has brought under us or to us.
