Psalms 92:13- Those that be planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God.

Our theme text already told us what will happen to those that are planted in the House of the Lord. Therefore it is important to understand in this context what the writer means by the House of the Lord. If you read from verse 12, you will notice that the writer only made reference to the righteous, but in verse 13 he told us the secret of that righteous man; that is planted in the House of the Lord. Meaning the righteous man that flourishes like the palm tree is the one that is planted in the House of the Lord. These are two different scenarios that attract two different levels of blessings. If you study the amplified version of Psalms 92:12-13, it was written as a continuous sentence. Meaning linked with verse 12 ‘The [uncompromisingly] righteous shall flourish like the palm tree [be long-lived, stately, upright, useful, and fruitful]; they shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon [majestic, stable, durable, and incorruptible]. Planted in the house of the Lord, they shall flourish in the courts of our God’. The living bible linked it this way as well ‘But the godly shall flourish like palm trees and grow tall as the cedars of Lebanon. For they are transplanted into the Lord’s own garden and are under his personal care’. Meaning the flourishing is directly linked to where they are planted. The House of the Lord was referred to as God’s own garden by the Living translation. We are clear on what is in store for the righteous planted in the House of the Lord and if the House of the Lord here referred to as God’s garden; it is safe to say the writer was talking about being planted in an atmosphere conducive and filled with elements to help flourish as a tree. If the righteous shall flourish like a palm tree and grow like the cedars of Lebanon, there is a need for that righteous person to be planted in a place where that will be possible, i.e a church of Jesus Christ. Think about it, you can plant a palm tree in any country in the world, but it will only grow in certain countries with the right environments. Cedars are referred to cedars of Lebanon because Lebanon had the right environment and conditions for it to flourish. I am sure David and Solomon would have loved to plant Cedars in Israel rather than having to import it for building if it was possible. The fact that you are now a Christian and the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus (1 Corinthians 1:30) is not enough. You must be planted in an environment that will help you grow in that righteousness, were you will be tendered for as stipulated in Ephesians 4:11-12. Get planted in a church of Jesus Christ.
