Whosoever Hates Instruction Is Stupid
Proverbs 12:1- Whoever loves instruction and correction loves knowledge, but he who hates reproof is like a brute beast, stupid and indiscriminating. (AMPC)
The title of this article says whosoever hates instruction is stupid. This sounds harsh but as you can clearly see from our theme text, it is not my choice of word. The King James version actually says such a person is a brutish. Other words for brutish are; inhuman, pitiless, cruel, beast, etc. It can actually be reworded to say whosoever hates instruction is a beast. The choice of words here shows how dangerous it is not to follow instruction.
In 2 Timothy 3:16, the bible told us that the scriptures are given for instructions amongst others. If this is true, then it is safe to say that whosoever hates to follow the scriptures is stupid since we have been able to establish that the scripture is an instruction manual from God.
I think the question we should be asking ourselves now is how often we follow the instructions in the word of God. Bear in mind it didn’t say whosoever hates instruction is a sinner but rather that such person is stupid. I think the obvious reason is that following the instructions in the word of God in any area of our life as we know is profiting. If we believe in the bible as being the word of God and that every instruction to us now is profitable, it is only wise to follow it at least for the benefits you will get from it.
